The 90-minute pre-scan oral contrast preparation (a large volume of polyethylene glycol or mannitol solution) distends the small bowel so the wall can be assessed in full. Gadolinium contrast is given intravenously during the scan. Total appointment time is 2–3 hours.

MRI of the kidneys and pancreas at Klinika JL provides detailed cross-sectional imaging of the renal parenchyma, adrenal glands and pancreatic body and tail without radiation, using gadolinium contrast on the Philips 3 Tesla scanner.
