Diagnostic ultrasound at Multiscan Pardubice is performed using the GE Healthcare Logiq 8 XDclear — one of GE's most capable mid-range clinical ultrasound systems, known for its XDclear transducer technology that improves image clarity in challenging patients. Examinations cover abdominal and pelvic organs, Doppler vascular studies, soft-tissue assessment, and cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography). The department is located at the Rokycanova Poliklinika Vektor facility and operates by prior appointment for both insured and self-pay patients. Results are available immediately after the examination.

Medical ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves (typically 2–18 MHz depending on target depth) emitted by a piezoelectric transducer placed against the skin. The returning echoes are processed in real time to construct a two-dimensional (or increasingly 3D) image of the underlying structures. Because ultrasound uses no ionising radiation, is real-time, portable and generally well tolerated, it is the first-line modality for a broad range of abdominal, pelvic, vascular and superficial investigations. Multiscan's department uses the GE Logiq 8 XDclear platform. GE's XDclear transducer technology uses a modified manufacturing process that improves element density and sensitivity, delivering sharper tissue resolution — particularly relevant in abdominal ultrasound where acoustic shadowing from bowel gas can obscure deep organs. The Logiq 8 supports B-mode grey-scale imaging, colour and pulsed-wave Doppler for flow assessment, and advanced modes including tissue harmonic imaging that further reduces artefacts in difficult-to-scan patients. Examinations offered include abdominal and pelvic ultrasound for liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, bladder, and gynaecological or urological indications. Doppler vascular studies assess arterial and venous blood flow in the carotid arteries, aorta, peripheral limb vessels and portal system, providing non-invasive screening for stenosis, thrombosis and atherosclerotic burden. Soft-tissue studies examine lymph nodes, thyroid, muscles and subcutaneous structures. Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) provides structural assessment of cardiac chambers, valves and wall motion, used for heart failure evaluation, valve disease screening and cardiomyopathy assessment. Preparation depends on the target area. Abdominal and pelvic studies require a 4-hour food fast and consumption of approximately 1.5 L of fluid 1.5 hours before the appointment to ensure a full bladder and minimise bowel gas interference. Doppler, soft-tissue and cardiac studies require no specific preparation. Results are communicated directly to the patient immediately after examination and transmitted to the referring physician.
