Cryotherapy

Duration

15 min

A whole-body cryotherapy session in a nitrogen-based cryochamber with a two-tier system: acclimatisation at -60°C in the antechamber, followed by up to 3 minutes at -130°C in the main chamber. Conducted under medical supervision.

MCK's whole-body cryotherapy uses a Polish-designed and built nitrogen-based cryochamber that operates at significantly colder temperatures than many electric systems. The two-tier design first exposes the client to -60°C in an antechamber for acclimatisation, then moves them into the main chamber at -130°C for the therapeutic exposure of up to 3 minutes. The extreme cold triggers a powerful sympathetic nervous system response: peripheral vasoconstriction redirects blood flow to the body's core, where it is enriched with oxygen and nutrients. Upon exiting the chamber and rewarming, vasodilation flushes this enriched blood back to the periphery, delivering an anti-inflammatory and recovery-promoting effect throughout the body. At -130°C, the nitrogen system achieves temperatures 20°C colder than most electric chambers (-110°C), which some practitioners consider more therapeutically effective for conditions involving deep tissue inflammation. The standard course at MCK is 10 sessions, which can be completed daily or every other day depending on the physician's recommendation. Safety is a core focus at MCK. Every session is supervised by a trained physiotherapist under the authority of a qualified physician. The chamber includes electrical temperature monitoring, automatic air dehumidification, thermal glass observation windows, oxygen level sensors, video surveillance, audio communication, an alarm button accessible from inside the chamber, and an emergency door lever. First-time visitors must complete a mandatory physiotherapy consultation (90 PLN) before cryotherapy is approved, ensuring medical suitability.
