EBO2 (Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation) at Liondale Medical combines an apheresis machine with hemealumination — simultaneous exposure of blood to UVA, UVC, red, green, and blue light wavelengths — while ozone is infused. Used for autoimmune conditions, chronic infections, systemic inflammation, and brain fog. A highly advanced ozone-adjacent blood purification protocol offered by Dr. Bissoon in Manhattan.
EBO2 — Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation — is one of the most advanced blood ozone-adjacent procedures available in integrative medicine, and Liondale Medical is among the relatively small number of US practices offering it under physician supervision. The procedure uses an apheresis machine to continuously draw blood from the patient, pass it through an extracorporeal circuit where it is simultaneously exposed to ozone gas and to multiple wavelengths of therapeutic light (hemealumination), and return the treated blood to the patient. The hemealumination component exposes blood within the circuit to ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet C (UVC) wavelengths, which have documented antimicrobial activity against circulating pathogens in the blood, as well as red, green, and blue visible light wavelengths with proposed immunomodulatory effects on blood components including lymphocytes and platelets. The concurrent ozonation step introduces ozone gas directly into the blood flowing through the extracorporeal circuit, exposing blood lipids, proteins, and cellular components to ozone at a controlled dose. In contrast to conventional major autohemotherapy or even the 10-pass protocol, EBO2 processes larger volumes of blood continuously through an automated circuit, making it possible to treat effectively the entire circulatory blood volume over the course of a session. Dr. Lionel Bissoon D.O. uses EBO2 for patients with autoimmune conditions, systemic chronic infections (Lyme disease, Epstein-Barr virus, chronic Lyme co-infections), systemic inflammation, and cognitive symptoms including brain fog where conventional approaches have been insufficient. The procedure typically runs 90–120 minutes and requires an IV access point and monitoring throughout. As an advanced extracorporeal procedure, EBO2 requires physician oversight and individual screening for eligibility. Pricing is provided following a consultation at the Upper West Side clinic.
