IHHT Altitude Training

Type

PEMF Therapy

Duration

1 hour

What's included

4 deliverables in this treatment

  • 40–60 minute mask-based IHHT session
  • Continuous pulse oximetry monitoring
  • Pre-session health screening and intensity calibration
  • Reclining position throughout — no physical exertion required

A 40-to-60-minute intermittent hypoxic-hyperoxic training (IHHT) session that alternates between low-oxygen and high-oxygen breathing phases through a comfortable mask. This passive protocol targets mitochondrial quality by stimulating the selective removal of damaged mitochondria and the production of new, efficient ones. Pulse oximetry monitoring ensures safe oxygen saturation levels throughout the session.

About this treatment

IHHT (Intermittent Hypoxic-Hyperoxic Therapy) at AYUN delivers alternating phases of reduced-oxygen air — simulating altitudes of 2,000 to 6,500 metres — and oxygen-enriched air through a breathing mask while you recline comfortably. Each session lasts 40 to 60 minutes and is continuously monitored with pulse oximetry to ensure oxygen saturation remains within safe parameters.

The mechanism targets mitochondrial quality control at the cellular level. During hypoxic phases, cells experience mild oxygen deprivation that acts as a selective pressure. Mitochondria that are damaged, inefficient, or producing excessive reactive oxygen species are identified and marked for removal through a natural quality-control process called mitophagy. During subsequent hyperoxic phases, the body receives a signal to produce new, healthy…

Research has explored IHHT for effects on cardiovascular health, including improved heart rate variability and blood pressure regulation. Studies also suggest potential benefits for metabolic function — enhanced fat oxidation, improved insulin sensitivity — as well as cognitive performance, sleep quality, and stress resilience. The therapy is particularly relevant for individuals who cannot exercise intensely due to injury, age, or medical conditions but…

Good to know

Duration
40–60 minutes
Method
Mask-based alternating hypoxia/hyperoxia
Monitoring
Continuous pulse oximetry

None — fully passive protocol

Who is this for?

Individuals seeking to support mitochondrial health and cellular energy production, people unable to exercise intensely due to injury or age, those interested in metabolic optimisation and fat oxidation, and longevity-focused clients building a comprehensive cellular health protocol

Preparation required

No fasting required, but avoid heavy meals within two hours of the session. Stay well hydrated. Inform staff of any respiratory conditions, severe anaemia, or cardiovascular concerns. Wear comfortable clothing — you will be reclining for the duration.
