MRI of the Breasts with Mammography
A magnetic-resonance scan of the breasts, offered together with mammography, that images breast tissue in fine detail without radiation from the MRI component. Breast MRI is used in specific situations such as further assessment of findings, screening of higher-risk patients, or evaluation of implants. At OMEGA the study is performed on a 1.5 Tesla scanner and usually uses intravenous contrast. The scan typically takes 30 to 40 minutes, and a specialist radiologist reviews both the MRI and mammography and provides a written report.
Breast MRI with Contrast (MR Mammography)
A contrast-enhanced 3 Tesla MRI of the breasts, also known as MR mammography, using a gadolinium agent to image breast tissue in detail. It is used alongside mammography and ultrasound in selected situations, such as further assessment of a finding, evaluation of implants, or screening in higher-risk individuals. Breast MRI is performed lying face down in a dedicated coil. The examination is read by a specialist radiologist, with a written report emailed within 72 hours.
Clinical Mammography
Clinical mammography including breast ultrasound, performed by Capio's specialised mammography team. Combines X-ray imaging with ultrasound for complementary assessment of breast tissue. A 5% patient insurance surcharge applies.
3D Mammography (Tomosynthesis)
A breast cancer screening mammogram using 3D digital tomosynthesis, which captures multiple thin-slice images of the breast at different angles. Tomosynthesis detects 29-41% more breast cancers than standard 2D mammography while reducing false-positive recall rates, particularly in women with dense breast tissue. Includes physical breast examination.
Mammography with Tomosynthesis
A breast cancer screening mammogram using 3D digital tomosynthesis, which captures multiple thin-slice images at different angles to reduce tissue overlap and improve cancer detection rates. Tomosynthesis is particularly effective in women with dense breast tissue where standard 2D mammography has limited sensitivity.
