Open rhinoplasty accesses the nasal framework via a small incision across the columella (the tissue between the nostrils), allowing the surgeon full visualisation of the internal structures for more complex cases including full septal deviation correction, significant hump removal, and structural reconstruction. The procedure takes 1–2 hours under local or general anaesthesia; the primary recovery with visible swelling is 2 weeks and the final permanent result becomes apparent over 6–12 months as residual tissue remodelling completes.
