Traditional Chinese acupuncture at WE CARE Liberec is performed by MUDr. David Němec, a radiologist and clinic co-director with specialist training in medical acupuncture. Fine sterile needles are inserted at classical Chinese meridian points to regulate Qi flow and stimulate the nervous and endocrine systems, with clinical applications including chronic pain management, anxiety and stress, digestive disorders, allergies, migraines, and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Sessions of 30 or 60 minutes are available; the clinic recommends a course of 6–10 treatments for chronic conditions. A 5+1 free package (six 60-minute sessions for 6,000 Kč) is available. The acupuncture technique used is traditional body needling: fine gauge sterile single-use needles (typically 0.20–0.30 mm diameter) are inserted to a depth of a few millimetres to several centimetres at specific anatomical points corresponding to classical acupuncture meridians. The needle placement aims to stimulate De Qi — the characteristic sensation of heaviness, warmth, or mild distension that signals successful point activation. Needles are retained in situ for 20–40 minutes while the patient rests, during which time neurological and neurochemical responses are triggered. The scientific consensus supports acupuncture's mechanism through the stimulation of A-delta and C nerve fibres, which transmit signals to the dorsal horn of the spinal cord, periaqueductal grey matter, and limbic system — areas involved in pain modulation, autonomic regulation, and endocrine response. Specific effects include endorphin and enkephalin release, cortisol modulation, and changes in local tissue blood flow.
