ECG-gated contrast-enhanced CT of the coronary arteries on a 128-slice GE Revolution Evo scanner. 185,000 HUF (≈€463). Non-invasive coronary artery disease assessment, compatible with pacemaker patients.
Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) at Wáberer Medical Center provides non-invasive visualisation of the coronary arteries using the 128-slice GE Revolution Evo scanner with ECG gating and intravenous contrast. At 185,000 HUF (approximately €463), the examination produces high-resolution images of the left main, left anterior descending, left circumflex, and right coronary arteries, enabling detection of stenosis, calcified and non-calcified atherosclerotic plaque, and coronary anomalies — without catheterisation or the risks of an invasive procedure. WMC explicitly states that the 128-slice GE Revolution Evo is compatible with pacemaker patients, a clinically important capability. Standard cardiac CT is often deferred or refused for pacemaker recipients because the implanted device creates electromagnetic interference artefact. The Revolution Evo's architecture and reconstruction algorithms allow diagnostic cardiac imaging in this population, extending access to coronary artery disease assessment for a group with elevated baseline cardiovascular risk who may benefit most from non-invasive imaging. ECG gating synchronises image acquisition to the cardiac cycle, capturing coronary anatomy during the brief diastolic pause when the heart is most stationary. The 128-slice detector configuration and fast gantry rotation deliver the sub-millimetre spatial resolution and high temporal resolution needed for motion-free coronary imaging. Low-dose protocols keep radiation within current ESNR and ESCR guidelines. Intravenous iodinated contrast is injected at a precisely timed rate to maximise coronary arterial opacification during acquisition. When resting heart rate is elevated, beta-blocker preparation may be recommended before the examination. CCTA has a very high negative predictive value — a normal coronary CT angiogram effectively rules out significant coronary artery disease in patients with chest pain, atypical cardiac symptoms, or intermediate pre-test probability. This makes it the recommended first-line investigation in ESC guidelines for stable chest pain in patients with low-to-moderate pre-test probability, avoiding the cost, procedural risk, and radiation of invasive catheter angiography for the majority of patients in whom anatomical disease is absent or minor. At WMC, coronary CT angiography is supported by board-certified radiologists with cardiovascular imaging experience. Reports include systematic per-segment stenosis grading, plaque characterisation (calcified, non-calcified, mixed), and a clinical summary. Patients at WMC can also access the coronary calcium score (67,000 HUF) as a lower-cost complementary investigation prior to full angiography. WMC operates Monday to Friday from 06:30 to 20:00 and Saturday mornings, with booking by telephone (+36 1 323 7000) or the WMC website. No physician referral is required for self-pay patients.
