Type
MRI Scan
Duration
20 min
A diagnostic ultrasound scan of a single body region, using high-frequency sound waves to produce real-time images of soft tissues, joints, and internal organs. No radiation is involved. Self-referral is accepted for most scan types, with the report delivered digitally within three working days.
Ultrasound remains one of the most versatile and accessible diagnostic imaging modalities, offering real-time visualisation of soft tissue structures without ionising radiation or contrast agents. Vista Health provides ultrasound scanning across a wide range of body regions including the abdomen, pelvis, thyroid, musculoskeletal joints, soft tissue lumps, and urinary tract. The scan is performed by a trained sonographer who applies a gel-coated probe to the skin over the area of interest. Images are acquired in real time, allowing dynamic assessment of structures during movement — particularly valuable for evaluating tendons, joints, and hernias. The sonographer captures diagnostic-quality still images and video clips that are reviewed by a reporting radiologist, with the written report and images delivered by email within three working days. Ultrasound is commonly the first-line investigation for abdominal pain, pelvic symptoms, thyroid nodules, testicular concerns, and musculoskeletal complaints such as shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, or plantar fasciitis. It is also valuable for characterising superficial lumps and bumps, distinguishing solid masses from fluid-filled cysts. Additional body regions can be scanned in the same appointment for a supplementary fee, making it efficient to address multiple concerns in a single visit.
