CT Scan

Type

CT Scan

Duration

40 min

Targeted CT scan of a single body region — chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, head, or sinus — using a dedicated low-dose CT scanner. Performed at Radiologie am Turm by a team led by Prof. Dr. Volkmar Jacobi, former deputy director of radiology at Frankfurt University Hospital. Available with or without contrast depending on clinical indication. Personal radiologist consultation included. No referral required for self-pay patients. Billing per GOÄ; cost estimate provided at booking confirmation.

Radiologie am Turm operates a dedicated low-dose CT scanner that applies the lowest practical radiation dose for every examination — a clinically important distinction in a private preventive imaging context where patients often return annually. The CT service covers all standard body regions. Thoracic CT evaluates the lung parenchyma, pleural space, mediastinum, and thoracic wall — whether for nodule characterisation, interstitial lung disease, lymphadenopathy, or follow-up after prior findings. Abdominal and pelvic CT assesses the liver, kidneys, pancreas, adrenal glands, spleen, bowel, and reproductive organs, with optional contrast enhancement for lesion characterisation. Head and sinus CT provides rapid bony detail of the skull, brain compartments, and paranasal sinuses, including planning CT for sinus surgery. Spinal CT delivers superior bony resolution compared to MRI for fracture assessment, bony stenosis, and post-operative hardware evaluation. Prof. Dr. Jacobi brings extensive pulmonary imaging expertise from his tenure as deputy director at Frankfurt University Hospital — making thoracic CT a particular area of depth at this practice. Every examination includes a personal consultation with the radiologist after the scan, which distinguishes Radiologie am Turm from hospital radiology departments where written reports are issued without direct patient contact. No referral is required for self-pay patients, making the practice directly accessible without navigating the statutory health insurance referral pathway. Appointments are available within 48 hours. Billing is per the German GOÄ (Gebührenordnung für Ärzte) physician fee schedule; a personalised cost estimate is provided at the time of booking so patients know the exact amount in advance.
