CT Scan (Somatom X-Cite)

The CT suite at PRIVAMED's radiology department runs a Siemens Somatom X-Cite multidetector scanner covering head, neck, chest and mediastinum including high-resolution lung CT (HRCT), spine and limbs, and the abdominal cavity and retroperitoneum. Advanced protocols include CT enteroclysis, CT colonography and virtual colonoscopy, and CT angiography of the vascular system. The department also performs image-guided interventions under CT navigation — biopsies, punctures and drainage of pathological collections, and pain-management injections of nerve roots and facet joints. The fully digital workflow allows lower radiation doses while improving image quality, and all studies are archived in PACS with electronic transfer to the referring physician. Czech-insured patients attend with a referral; self-pay examinations are quoted and booked through the dedicated CT line.

Computed tomography at Nemocnice PRIVAMED is performed on a Siemens Somatom X-Cite — a modern multidetector system designed for low-dose, high-resolution imaging across the whole body. **Diagnostic examinations:** - *Head and neck:* trauma, stroke work-up, sinus and skull-base imaging. - *Chest:* lung and mediastinal imaging including HRCT — the reference technique for interstitial lung disease, fibrosis and emphysema assessment. - *Spine and limbs:* bony detail after trauma, degenerative disease, pre-operative planning. - *Abdomen and retroperitoneum:* parenchymal organs, staging examinations, urological imaging. - *CT enteroclysis and CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy):* dedicated bowel protocols — virtual colonoscopy is a less invasive alternative for patients who cannot undergo or do not want optical colonoscopy. - *CT angiography:* non-invasive vascular mapping of the aorta, carotid, intracranial and peripheral arteries. **CT-guided interventions:** Using CT navigation, the department performs targeted biopsies of lesions, punctures and drainages of pathological fluid collections, and precision pain-management procedures — periradicular (nerve-root) and facet-joint injections for back pain, including ozone application as a published self-pay extra (1,200 Kč, listed separately on this profile). **Dose and technology:** The fully digitalised acquisition chain allows the use of lower radiation doses while simultaneously increasing image quality. All image data are stored in the PASC/PACS digital archive and connected to the Czech national medical imaging network, so studies can be transferred electronically to any connected specialist, or exported on portable media for international patients. **The examination:** Most CT scans take only minutes on the table. Iodinated intravenous contrast is used where the clinical question requires it — kidney function (creatinine) may need to be checked beforehand, and the informed consent form is available on the hospital website. Bowel protocols (enteroclysis, colonography) require specific preparation communicated at booking. **Referral and self-pay:** Czech-insured patients need a referral (žádanka) and the scan is then covered by insurance.
