Whole-Body MRI

A radiation-free full-body MRI screening performed on a 3T ultra-high-field scanner, covering the brain, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and major joints in a single session. The scan visualises brain vessels in high resolution and produces 3D spinal column imaging, enabling detection of tumours, metastases, vascular abnormalities, and benign structural changes across all major organ systems without ionising radiation.

The whole-body MRI at Primenostics uses 3T field strength to deliver higher signal-to-noise ratios and finer anatomical detail than standard 1.5T systems. The examination covers the brain and intracranial vasculature, the full spinal column from cervical through lumbar segments, thoracic organs, the complete abdominal and pelvic cavity, and bilateral hip and knee joints. Because MRI relies on magnetic fields rather than X-rays, the scan carries zero cumulative radiation dose — a meaningful consideration for individuals who plan to repeat preventive screening annually. The practice uses a double-couch system where patients are positioned and prepared on a mobile couch outside the scanner room, then transferred into the bore only for the active scan sequence. This approach reduces the total time spent inside the enclosed space and is specifically designed to improve comfort for claustrophobic patients. The session typically exceeds 60 minutes of scan time, with additional time for positioning, preparation, and a post-scan consultation with Dr. Walter to review initial findings. All images are interpreted by Dr. Sven Walter, who holds dual board certification in radiology and nuclear medicine and brings specialist training in cross-sectional oncological imaging. Findings are discussed directly with the patient on the same day wherever possible.
