MEDICON RDG Budějovická's CT scanner delivers high-resolution three-dimensional imaging of the brain, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and vascular structures in a single session. The centre uses one of Prague's most advanced multi-detector CT systems, co-funded by the EU OPPK programme, and is fully connected to the ePACS inter-hospital digital network so your referring physician can access results remotely. Scans of the skeleton and sinuses require no preparation; contrast-enhanced studies (angiography, enterography, colonography) require at least four hours of fasting. The on-site radiologist produces a written report for every examination, and imaging can be provided on CD. Booking is typically within one week; urgent same-day referrals are accommodated where capacity allows. The centre is located in the yellow building, entrance 6, basement level — one minute from Budějovická metro station on line C.
MEDICON — RDG Budějovická operates a modern multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) scanner in a fully digitalised radiodiagnostic centre housed in the basement of the yellow building (žlutá budova) on the Poliklinika Budějovická campus. The equipment was co-financed by the EU Operational Programme Prague — Competitiveness (OPPK) and meets the technical standards expected of the city's leading private imaging facilities. The centre performs a comprehensive range of CT examinations: brain, spine, neck, chest (including high-resolution HRCT for lung disease), abdomen, pelvic organs, and musculoskeletal structures. Specialised studies include CT angiography (MDCT angiografie) for vascular assessment, CT enterography for detailed small-bowel imaging, CT colonography (irrigografie) as a minimally invasive alternative to colonoscopy, and CT-guided peri-radicular therapy (PRT) — a precision procedure in which a local anaesthetic and corticosteroid are injected directly to a compressed nerve root under CT fluoroscopic guidance, commonly used for back pain and sciatica. Preparation depends on the study type. Non-contrast examinations of the spine, skeleton, sinuses, and chest require no preparation at all. Contrast-enhanced examinations require a minimum of four hours of fasting, avoidance of coffee and alcohol, and a prior allergy history; patients on metformin must follow specific instructions provided at booking. Patients with known iodine contrast allergy should inform the clinic so pre-medication with prednisolone can be arranged by the referring physician. Each examination is reported by a specialist radiologist (radiodiagnostik). Results are available electronically through the ePACS inter-hospital network, allowing your GP or specialist to access images and the written report without delay. Images are also available on CD on request. The RDG centre is connected to the wider MEDICON digital infrastructure, which includes electronic referrals and a shared patient record environment across the MEDICON PRONATAL group. Booking is required for CT (unlike walk-in X-ray). Appointments are available Monday through Thursday 07:00–19:00 and Friday 07:00–15:30. Most examinations are covered by all major Czech public health insurers with a valid referral (žádanka). Self-pay patients should confirm current pricing at reception or by phone at +420 222 534 634 or email [email protected]. Contraindications for contrast CT include confirmed iodine allergy (manageable with pre-medication), severe renal impairment, uncontrolled bronchial asthma, and certain forms of glaucoma. Metal implants do not contraindicate CT the way they do MRI, but should still be declared at registration.
