Professional dental hygiene at Perfect Smile is delivered by university-trained dental hygienists at both Prague 1 locations. The first visit combines a full examination of teeth and gums, personalised oral-hygiene instruction, ultrasonic and hand-curette removal of tartar, tooth polishing, AIRFLOW air-polishing to lift surface staining from coffee, tea, and tobacco, and a finishing enamel fluoridation. Regular hygiene is particularly important during clear-aligner treatment, when trays cover the teeth for 22 hours a day — the clinic currently includes a free hygiene session with new aligner treatment and recommends ongoing visits to keep gums healthy throughout orthodontic care.
About this treatment
Professional dental hygiene removes the hardened plaque (tartar/calculus) and biofilm that home brushing cannot reach — the primary cause of gum inflammation, bleeding, bad breath, and eventually periodontal disease and tooth loss. For orthodontic patients it is not optional polish but a clinical foundation: clean, healthy gums are a precondition for starting aligner or brace treatment, and maintaining them during treatment protects the final result.

Examination: The hygienist assesses tooth surfaces, gum condition, pocket depths, and bleeding tendency, establishing a baseline and flagging anything that needs the orthodontist's or a dentist's attention.

Preparation required
No special preparation required. Brush normally before the appointment. Inform the hygienist of any gum sensitivity, bleeding, or medical conditions affecting oral health. Cancel at least one working day ahead to avoid the missed-appointment fee.
