The treatment works through the same physiological mechanism as body cryotherapy — rapid vasoconstriction of superficial blood vessels followed by vasodilation once the cold stimulus is removed — but concentrated on facial tissue.

This vascular cycling is associated with several potential skin benefits: reduced puffiness through improved lymphatic drainage, a temporary tightening effect from the cold-induced tissue response, and a refreshed complexion from the increased blood flow during the vasodilation phase.
