OK Medical's optometry service at Poliklinika Sever uses a ZEISS digital phoropter — a high-end computerised refraction system that measures diopter values objectively and allows patients to preview corrected vision in real time through a digital lens simulation on a tablet. The university-educated optometrist determines the precise glasses prescription for distance and near vision, with a complimentary intraocular pressure check and corneal thickness measurement included. Contact lens fitting and training is also available, from first application (60-minute session with supervised insertion and removal training) to routine check and reapplication. All diopter measurements include a voucher for optical services.

The quality of a glasses prescription depends entirely on the precision of the refraction measurement and the equipment used to perform it. Standard optician shops often use manual phoropters or basic automated refractometers that can miss subtle astigmatic axes or accommodate-driven errors. The ZEISS digital phoropter used at OK Medical is a fully automated subjective refraction system that presents a controlled series of lens comparisons in digital form, eliminating the mechanical lag and inter-examiner variability of older equipment. Combined with the ZEISS digital projection and tablet-based lens preview, patients can see a simulation of their corrected vision before any glasses are ordered. The university-educated optometrist (ČVUT Prague — Czech Technical University, which offers the Czech Republic's longest-standing applied optics and optometry programme) conducts the refractive assessment and includes two complimentary diagnostic elements not standard in optician shops: intraocular pressure measurement (a key glaucoma screening indicator) and corneal thickness (pachymetry, relevant for interpreting IOP readings accurately and for assessing refractive surgery candidacy). These are provided at no additional charge as part of the diopter consultation. A digital presentation of lens options is provided on a tablet — coating types, material options, ZEISS vs. alternative brands — with pricing shown transparently so patients can compare before committing. For patients new to contact lenses, a dedicated 60-minute first-application session (1,000 Kč) covers trial lens selection by the optometrist, supervised insertion and removal training, a wearing schedule, and lens care protocol. A 500 Kč check appointment is available for established contact lens wearers needing a routine fitting review or a change of prescription. The full combined 90-minute appointment (diopter + contact lens application) is priced at 1,500 Kč. Diopter measurement by the attending ophthalmologist, MUDr. Kim Štěpánková, is available at 2,000 Kč for patients whose refractive status is complex, who have concurrent ocular pathology, or who specifically require a medical-grade prescription for surgical assessment. This appointment includes a more complete anterior segment evaluation and a 1,000 Kč voucher. Contraindications to contact lens fitting: active ocular infection, severe dry eye disease (assessed at consultation), and certain corneal conditions. The optometrist screens for these before proceeding.
