Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler injections at OK Medical use two European premium brands — BELOTERO (Germany) and NAEUVIA (Switzerland) — selected by MUDr. Štěpánková based on each patient's anatomy and the target area. HA is a glycosaminoglycan naturally present throughout the body; when injected subcutaneously via fine needle or cannula after topical anaesthesia, it restores volume, fills creases, stimulates collagen, and binds water to plump and hydrate the skin. Results last approximately one year. Treated areas include the lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, glabella, depressed scars, and facial asymmetries. All procedures are physician-only, performed exclusively by Dr. Štěpánková.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the body's own connective tissue components — a large glycosaminoglycan that draws water into the extracellular matrix, maintaining skin volume and elasticity. As this natural HA reservoir diminishes with age, the overlying skin thins, folds deepen, and lip volume decreases. Injectable HA restores this lost scaffold, with results that are immediate, gradual in their final refinement, and fully reversible by hyaluronidase if needed. At OK Medical, MUDr. Kim Štěpánková selects between two European-manufactured brands for each individual case. BELOTERO (Merz, Germany) is a monophasic cross-linked HA available in multiple densities, known for smooth tissue integration and even distribution — well suited to lip volume and superficial perioral lines. NAEUVIA (Switzerland) offers an alternative rheological profile chosen when tissue firmness requirements or area depth differ. The product selection happens at consultation, not at booking. The injection technique is chosen per area: fine needle for precise superficial placement, cannula for larger volumizing areas with fewer entry points and reduced bruising risk. Topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand, and most BELOTERO formulations contain lidocaine in the syringe for additional comfort during injection. Areas treated include the lips (augmentation, border definition, Cupid's bow reshaping), nasolabial folds (smile lines from nose to mouth corners), marionette lines (mouth-to-chin vertical lines), glabella, depressed acne or trauma scars, and facial asymmetries. HA injected into the skin naturally binds water and gradually stimulates collagen production, so the result typically refines over two to four weeks before settling. Duration is approximately 12 months, after which the HA breaks down into water and carbon dioxide — identical to the body's own metabolism of native HA. Touch-up volume may be assessed at 6–9 months if natural facial movement accelerates breakdown in high-mobility areas like the lips. Preparation: avoid blood thinners, NSAIDs, and alcohol for 48 hours before the appointment to minimise bruising. Inform Dr. Štěpánková of any previous filler history and the products used — this influences placement depth and choice of technique. Post-treatment: expect mild swelling and possible bruising for two to seven days; avoid prolonged sun, sauna, and intense exercise for 48 hours; do not undergo dental procedures for two weeks. Contraindications include active skin infection, untreated autoimmune conditions, keloid tendency, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and known HA allergy.
