Botulinum toxin injections at OK Medical use BOCOUTURE by Merz (Germany) — a highly purified type A formulation with no complex-forming proteins, which reduces the risk of resistance compared with earlier-generation products. The treatment targets dynamic wrinkles formed by repeated muscle movement: glabella frown lines, horizontal forehead creases, and crow's feet around the eyes. For patients with excessive sweating, the same neurotoxin is injected into the underarms to calm overactive sweat glands. All injections are performed solely by founder MUDr. Kim Štěpánková, an ophthalmologist and aesthetic medicine physician with formal botulinum toxin training in Prague. Results begin to appear within approximately one week and typically last three to five months.
Botulinum toxin type A works by interrupting the chemical signal — acetylcholine release — that tells a muscle to contract. When a small, precise dose is deposited into the target muscle using a fine-gauge needle, the muscle enters a relaxed state and the skin above it smooths. The effect is temporary and fully reversible as the nerve endings gradually regenerate over three to five months. At OK Medical the product used is BOCOUTURE by Merz (Germany), a purified formulation that contains the 150 kDa botulinum toxin complex without accessory proteins. This purity reduces the risk of antibody formation and potential resistance — a clinically relevant distinction for patients who receive regular repeat treatments. All injections at OK Medical are physician-only procedures. MUDr. Kim Štěpánková conducts a personal consultation before every treatment to assess facial anatomy, discuss the patient's goals, and confirm suitability. Signed informed consent is obtained. The injection itself takes approximately 15–20 minutes, using a fine needle and anatomically guided placement. Topical anaesthetic cream can be applied if requested, though most patients find the procedure tolerable without it. Areas treated include the glabella (vertical frown lines between the brows, from 3,000 Kč), horizontal forehead lines (4,000 Kč), and crow's feet at the outer eye corners (4,000 Kč). Hyperhidrosis of the underarms is also treated at 10,000 Kč for women and 15,000 Kč for men. A lighter 'Baby Botox' approach using micro-doses costs 1,500–2,000 Kč and is suitable for patients wanting prevention rather than full muscle relaxation. Results onset over the first week, reach their peak at two to four weeks, and generally last three to five months. Regular repeat treatments may gradually extend the interval, as trained muscles tend to produce less pronounced wrinkle depth over time. Preparation: avoid blood-thinning supplements and medications on the treatment day; ensure no active skin infection is present at planned injection sites. Post-treatment: stay upright for four hours; avoid vigorous exercise, hot saunas, and direct sun exposure for 48 hours; do not press or massage treated areas for 10 days. Contraindications include confirmed allergy to botulinum toxin, systemic infection, active local skin infection, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
