The department operates around the clock for inpatient and emergency services and offers outpatient imaging including self-pay and referred studies. The Radiology Department has been active since the hospital's founding and has earned a strong reputation in cardiovascular and neurological CT — the areas most closely aligned with the hospital's core clinical specialties. The Somatom Flash supports dual-energy scanning, which allows sophisticated post-processing techniques including separation of bone and iodinated contrast from soft tissue — particularly useful in CT angiography and for characterising urinary tract calculi. The SAPHIRE interactive reconstruction system substantially reduces radiation dose compared to conventional filtered back projection, an important consideration for patients who may require serial CT surveillance over time. The department adopts the "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA) principle and applies dose modulation calibrated to body region. For vascular or oncological indications where enhanced tissue differentiation is needed, intravenous iodinated contrast is available and typically added as a separate contrast-enhanced acquisition or a timed multiphasic protocol. The radiology team works closely with the hospital's cardiovascular and neurosurgical departments — the hospital's primary specialties — and provides 24-hour consultation support. Board-certified radiologists prepare structured written reports.
