A diabetes panel measuring fasting glucose and HbA1c to screen for and monitor diabetes and pre-diabetes. Available as a walk-in self-pay test at the accredited MZ-Biochem laboratory.

About this treatment

Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes often develop silently over years. This panel combines fasting blood glucose, a snapshot of the current blood sugar level, with HbA1c (glycated haemoglobin), which reflects average blood sugar over the preceding two to three months and is unaffected by short-term fluctuations. Together they screen for impaired glucose regulation before symptoms appear and monitor control in people already diagnosed. MZ-Biochem offers the panel on a self-pay basis without a referral, making it convenient to check metabolic status, particularly for people who are overweight, have a family history of diabetes, or want to track the effect of dietary changes. A 12-hour fast is required for the glucose component. Results are best reviewed with a physician for diagnosis and management decisions.
