Walk-in digital X-ray at Multiscan Pardubice uses the Siemens Multix Impact with direct digital detector technology, eliminating analogue film and chemical processing for faster image acquisition, immediate digital review and lower radiation dose per exposure. The service is available Monday–Friday 07:00–13:30 without prior appointment for insured patients presenting a valid referral. The X-ray facility is fully barrier-free, located on the ground floor of the Rokycanova Poliklinika Vektor building, with parking adjacent and public transport (line 20) approximately 100 metres away.
X-ray (radiography) uses ionising radiation to create projection images of internal structures. Dense tissue such as bone absorbs X-rays strongly and appears white on the image; soft tissue and air are more transparent and appear in shades of grey and black respectively. While CT provides cross-sectional detail, plain X-ray remains the fastest, most accessible and lowest-cost imaging modality for bone assessment, chest evaluation and many acute clinical situations. Multiscan's X-ray unit is the Siemens Multix Impact, which uses a flat-panel amorphous silicon direct digital detector. Direct digital radiography (DR) converts X-rays directly to electrical signals in the detector layer, bypassing the intermediate step of phosphor plate scanning required by older computed radiography (CR) systems. This direct conversion improves spatial resolution and reduces the quantum noise visible in CR images at equivalent dose, allowing diagnostic-quality images at lower radiation exposures than analogue or CR film. The digital images are available for review within seconds of acquisition, can be post-processed for brightness and contrast without repeat exposure, and are immediately transmittable electronically to the referring physician. Examinations include chest X-ray (the most common — for respiratory infections, heart size assessment, rib fractures, pleural effusion), extremity X-rays (fractures, arthritis, joint alignment), spine X-rays (scoliosis assessment, compression fractures, disc space), pelvis and hip, and other skeletal regions as indicated. The department does not perform fluoroscopy or contrast studies — these are handled by other hospital services. The walk-in X-ray service operates Monday through Friday, 07:00–13:30, without prior appointment for patients presenting a physician referral (required by Czech medical law) and their health insurance card. The ground-floor location at Rokycanova and full barrier-free access make it one of the most accessible X-ray services in the Pardubice area. International and self-pay patients should contact [email protected] for access and pricing arrangements. A report is prepared by the radiologist and transmitted to the referring physician; a free first copy is available at reception with ID.
