Type
MRI Scan
Duration
30 min
A dedicated joint MRI performed on a GE Signa Architect AIR 3T scanner, providing detailed imaging of menisci, cruciate and collateral ligaments, articular cartilage, bone marrow, and surrounding soft tissues. The 3T field strength excels at musculoskeletal imaging where fine structural detail — partial-thickness cartilage defects, meniscal root tears, subtle bone marrow oedema — drives clinical decisions.
Joint MRI at MIND Clinic is performed on the GE Signa Architect AIR 3T, where the doubled signal-to-noise ratio compared to 1.5T translates directly into better visualisation of the structures that matter most in musculoskeletal imaging: articular cartilage thickness and surface integrity, meniscal fibrocartilage internal signal, ligament fibre continuity, and trabecular bone marrow patterns. These are precisely the tissues where early pathology is subtle and where image quality determines whether a finding is detected or missed. The standard knee protocol evaluates the medial and lateral menisci, anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, medial and lateral collateral ligaments, articular cartilage of all compartments, the patellofemoral joint, bone marrow of the femur and tibia, popliteal fossa, and Baker's cysts. The same examination protocol and pricing applies to shoulder, hip, ankle, elbow, and wrist joints. For complex cases, contrast-enhanced MRI adds gadolinium sequences (104,000 HUF) that improve detection of synovitis, loose bodies, and post-operative changes. MR arthrography (109,900 HUF) involves intra-articular contrast injection for superior labral and cartilage delineation — particularly valuable for shoulder labral tears and hip femoroacetabular impingement assessment. The orthopaedic team at MIND includes Dr. Panics Gergely, a sports medicine specialist, ensuring clinical correlation is available on-site.
