Type
Extraction
Duration
1 hour
Surgical removal of wisdom teeth and other impacted or retained teeth that cannot be taken out by a simple extraction. At Medin this is performed by a dentist with a focus on oral surgery and implantology, under local anaesthetic. The procedure is planned with on-site imaging, including 3D scans where useful, to assess the tooth's position relative to nearby nerves and sinuses, and detailed aftercare is provided to support recovery.
Some teeth — most often lower wisdom teeth — sit at an angle, are only partly through the gum or remain fully buried in the bone (impacted or retained). When a tooth like this is decayed, causing recurrent gum infections, crowding neighbours or unable to be restored, it is removed with a minor surgical procedure rather than a straightforward extraction. At Medin Stomatologia these cases are handled by Dr Kacper Jawor, who focuses on oral surgery and implantology and has completed the ITI Implantology Curriculum. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. Where the tooth is covered by gum or bone, a small incision is made to access it, the tooth may be divided to remove it more conservatively, and the site is cleaned and closed with stitches as needed. Planning is supported by the clinic's on-site imaging, including 3D cone-beam scans, which show the tooth's exact position in relation to nearby structures such as the inferior dental nerve and the maxillary sinus, helping reduce risk. The fee depends on how deeply the tooth is impacted and the complexity of removal. Afterwards you receive clear instructions on managing swelling, keeping the area clean and what to eat, and a review where stitches need removing. Swelling, mild bruising and discomfort for several days are expected and settle with simple measures; the surgeon discusses the specific risks for your case at the surgical consultation beforehand.
