Crowded, protruding, gapped or misaligned teeth can be harder to clean and may wear unevenly, while bite problems can affect chewing; orthodontic treatment gradually moves the teeth into a better alignment using gentle, sustained pressure. Removable appliances are used in suitable cases, often for younger patients or simpler corrections, and clear aligners — a series of near-invisible custom trays swapped through the course — offer a removable, low-visibility option for appropriate cases and are quoted individually. The length of treatment and the number of visits depend on the complexity of the case and are explained at planning. After active treatment, retainers are used to hold the teeth in their new position.
