GenePlanet NIPT — Non-Invasive Prenatal Test

From a maternal blood sample it screens for the common chromosomal conditions (such as Down syndrome) and can determine fetal Rh status, with no risk to the pregnancy and no referral needed.

Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) analyses fragments of fetal DNA circulating in the mother's blood, allowing high-accuracy screening for common chromosomal conditions from around the 10th week of pregnancy — without the small miscarriage risk associated with invasive procedures such as amniocentesis. MEDEOR provides the GenePlanet NIPT range to self-pay clients through its Přerov collection point. The GenePlanet NIPT screens for the most common fetal chromosomal trisomies — including trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome) and trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) — and, depending on the chosen package, sex-chromosome conditions and microdeletions. The Rh variant additionally determines the fetal RhD status, which is important for Rh-negative mothers in planning Rh-incompatibility management. More comprehensive GenePlanet tiers (STANDARD, PLUS, PRO, PREMIUM, and twin-pregnancy versions) extend the range of conditions screened. The blood sample is collected at the Přerov site and processed by the GenePlanet laboratory network, with results returned within the provider's standard timeframe. No referral is required to order the test, though NIPT is a screening test — a high-risk result should be confirmed with diagnostic testing and discussed with an obstetrician or genetic counsellor.
