PRP Regenerative Medicine (Joints & Musculoskeletal)

Type

PRP/PRF Therapy

Duration

1 hour

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and regenerative medicine at Liondale Medical for musculoskeletal conditions including arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis. Blood is drawn, centrifuged to concentrate platelets at 3–5 times normal levels, and injected at the target site. Stem cell treatments using bone marrow or adipose-derived stem cells, and exosome infusions from placental tissue, are also offered as standalone or combination regenerative protocols.

Liondale Medical's regenerative medicine program offers platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cell, and exosome treatments for both musculoskeletal injury management and broader anti-aging and rejuvenation applications, under the direct supervision of Dr. Lionel Bissoon D.O. PRP is prepared through a standardized protocol: a blood draw from the patient, centrifugation to separate the platelet-rich plasma fraction from red blood cells and platelet-poor plasma, and injection of the concentrated PRP — typically at 3–5 times normal platelet concentration — directly into the target tissue. Platelets are rich in growth factors including PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), TGF-β (transforming growth factor-beta), IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1), VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), and EGF (epidermal growth factor), all of which play roles in tissue repair, angiogenesis, collagen synthesis, and cellular proliferation. At Liondale Medical, PRP injections are used for orthopedic and sports medicine applications including osteoarthritic joints (knee, hip, shoulder), rotator cuff tendinopathy, lateral and medial epicondylitis (tennis/golfer's elbow), patellar tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, and other tendon and ligament injuries where conservative care has been insufficient. For cases where PRP alone may not achieve the desired regenerative outcome, the clinic also offers stem cell treatments using stem cells derived from the patient's own bone marrow or adipose (fat) tissue, which are processed and injected at injury sites. Additionally, exosome treatments using exosomes derived from placental tissue are available as an intravenous infusion in-office — exosomes are nano-sized extracellular vesicles that carry signaling proteins and microRNA between cells and are proposed to modulate tissue repair and immune response. These regenerative modalities may be used individually or in combination based on the patient's condition, goals, and assessment by Dr. Bissoon. The same PRP technology is also applied by the clinic to hair restoration (scalp PRP injections) and skin rejuvenation.
