The under-eye area — the tear trough — is one of the most technically demanding injection sites because the skin is exceptionally thin, the underlying anatomy is complex and bruising is conspicuous. Redensity II Eyes (Teoxane, Switzerland) was developed specifically for this indication: it is a monophasic hyaluronic acid gel at 15 mg/ml combined with a unique blend of amino acids (including glycine, lysine and proline — precursors to collagen), antioxidants (vitamin B6, vitamin E, glutathione) and lidocaine for comfort. The formulation is optimised for the thin, delicate periorbital skin and does not contain the cross-linking agents present in standard HA fillers at levels that would cause puffiness or the Tyndall effect (bluish discolouration). At Laser Esthetic the injection is performed using a fine cannula rather than a sharp needle — the cannula glides through the tissue, reducing trauma, bruising and the risk of inadvertent vascular injury.
