Radiofrequency Skin Tightening (Exilis)

Radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening works by delivering controlled electrical energy at radio frequencies into the dermis and subcutaneous fat, where it is converted into heat. The immediate thermal effect contracts existing collagen fibres — visible as an acute skin tightening — while the sustained heating stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin over the following weeks and months, giving a progressive tightening and lifting effect. At higher energy densities and in body applications, RF heat also induces apoptosis in adipocyte (fat cell) membranes, reducing localised fat without damage to the overlying skin. Laser Esthetic uses the Exilis dual radiofrequency device, which combines monopolar and bipolar RF delivery modes to allow precise depth targeting — monopolar mode for deeper fat reduction and structural collagen work, bipolar for more superficial skin rejuvenation. The device includes a cooling mechanism on the handpiece so the skin surface is protected while the target layer is heated.
