Pigmentation
Duration
30 min
Medical laser treatment for sunspots, age spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, freckles and melasma, using the Q-Plus Nd:YAG system or Candela Alexandrite laser. A dermoscopic examination confirms the lesion is benign before treatment begins, and a patch test is performed on a small area first. Results become visible from five to six weeks after each session, with two to four sessions typically sufficient for most pigmentation types.
Laser pigmentation removal at Laser Esthetic targets melanin deposits in hyperpigmented lesions — sunspots, age spots, café-au-lait marks, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and freckles — with Q-Plus Nd:YAG or Candela Alexandrite laser energy. Both systems deliver high-intensity pulses selectively absorbed by the excess melanin in the lesion; the pigment heats rapidly and breaks into smaller particles that are cleared through the skin's natural immune and lymphatic processes. Before treatment, a physician carries out a dermoscopic examination using the DermoGenius system to confirm each lesion is benign and does not require biopsy. A test patch is applied to a small section of the area being treated to confirm skin response before proceeding with a full session. This medically supervised protocol — rather than the walk-in beauty-salon approach — reduces the risk of misidentifying a suspicious lesion as a cosmetic issue. The sensation during treatment is usually described as mild pinching; most patients tolerate it comfortably without anaesthesia, but EMLA topical cream is available for larger treatment areas. Redness and slight darkening of the lesion (a normal frosting response) appear immediately and resolve over days to weeks. Full results become visible from five to six weeks post-session as the body clears fragmented particles. Two to four sessions are sufficient for most cases; deeper or more diffuse pigmentation may need more. Sun avoidance for at least one month post-treatment and rigorous SPF 50+ application are essential to prevent recurrence. The procedure is not appropriate for active tanning or very dark skin tones, and the dermatologist assesses skin type and lesion characteristics at consultation.
