Type
Dermatology Consultation
Duration
30 min
A clinical dermatology review conducted by a specialist physician at Kožní Keclíková, covering skin disease diagnosis, mole assessment, and early skin cancer screening. During the consultation, MUDr. Keclíková or a colleague performs a visual examination and, where indicated, digital dermatoscope imaging — a non-invasive tool that illuminates the deeper layers of pigmented lesions to distinguish benign moles from concerning changes. The dermatoscope used in the clinic is a digital device allowing high-magnification capture and comparison across visits. Patients from five contracted Czech health insurance funds (VZP, ZPMV, OZP, RBP, ČPZP) are seen with full insurance coverage for indicated services; self-pay bookings are accepted from all other insurers.
The dermatology outpatient service at Kožní Keclíková (Medincentrum) covers the full range of clinical dermatovenerology — the diagnosis and management of skin and mucosal conditions — with a particular focus on mole surveillance and skin cancer prevention that is clinically relevant given Ostrava's high population density and the increasing incidence of melanoma across Central Europe. At the consultation, the physician takes a structured history covering skin type, sun exposure, family history of skin cancer, and any changes in existing moles. The digital dermatoscope examination follows: a handheld device with magnification and cross-polarised lighting is applied to lesions of interest, capturing high-resolution images for immediate review and long-term comparison. Unlike naked-eye examination, dermatoscopy allows the physician to assess the architecture of pigment networks, vascular patterns, and regression structures — features that distinguish early dysplastic or malignant lesions from common benign naevi. Beyond mole surveillance, the consultation addresses a broad spectrum of dermatovenerology concerns: inflammatory skin diseases (eczema, psoriasis, urticaria), infectious conditions, leg ulcer assessment, varicose vein and heavy-leg prevention, and the identification of benign growths that may be suitable for minor surgical removal. Patients referred for lymphoedema assessment are also triaged through this consultation pathway before being directed to the specialist lymphatic drainage service. For patients with contracted health insurance (VZP 111, ZPMV 205, OZP 207, RBP 211, ČPZP 213), consultations are fully covered when medically indicated. Patients with other insurers are seen on a self-pay basis for any examination; the same applies to purely preventive mole checks. Last appointments are accepted one hour before closing. The clinic operates by appointment and asks patients who need to cancel to do so in advance — a 500 Kč no-show charge applies to missed bookings.
