Acupuncture

Duration

30 min

Classical acupuncture delivered by MUDr. Vladimíra Strnadelová at Institut Celostní Medicíny, Praha 1. Fine sterile needles are placed at precisely selected points along the body's meridian pathways to regulate energy flow, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the body's own healing responses. Sessions run 30 minutes and are commonly prescribed weekly or twice weekly. Acute and chronic pain, joint conditions, spinal complaints, allergies, and a wide range of systemic disorders all respond well to this form of treatment.

Acupuncture at Institut Celostní Medicíny is practised within the framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where health depends on the free flow of qi (vital energy) along the body's meridian network. MUDr. Strnadelová selects acupuncture points based on both TCM pattern diagnosis and the findings of the initial EAV examination, so each session is targeted precisely to the patient's current presentation rather than following a fixed protocol. During a 30-minute session, ultra-fine sterile single-use needles are inserted at selected points, typically between 4 and 16 per session depending on the treatment area and the condition being addressed. Patients generally experience a mild 'de-qi' sensation — a dull ache, heaviness, or warmth around the needle — which signals that the point has been activated. Needles remain in place for 20–25 minutes while the patient rests in a reclined position. The clinic treats a broad spectrum of conditions with acupuncture. Musculoskeletal applications include low-back pain, cervical and lumbar spine degeneration, shoulder periarthritis, knee osteoarthritis, and post-injury recovery. Internally, acupuncture is applied to digestive disorders (IBS, bloating, constipation, acid reflux), respiratory conditions (asthma, chronic bronchitis), allergic rhinitis, skin conditions (atopic eczema, acne), insomnia, anxiety, and migraines. Seasonal preventive acupuncture courses are offered in spring and autumn to support immune resilience. Beyond body acupuncture, the clinic incorporates auriculotherapy — needle stimulation of microsystems on the outer ear that map to the whole body — as either a standalone treatment or an adjunct within the same session. The ear carries particularly effective points for addiction support, pain, and emotional regulation. A typical course consists of 6–10 sessions scheduled weekly or twice weekly, after which the patient is reassessed. For chronic conditions, maintenance sessions monthly or seasonally help consolidate results. The treatment is non-invasive, carries minimal side effects, and is suitable for most adults; MUDr. Strnadelová will discuss suitability at the initial consultation.
