The Women's Extra Prevention panel expands the Basic panel with two clinically important additions: ferritin, which reveals iron storage depletion before anaemia becomes apparent on a standard CBC, and 25-OH vitamin D, the most reliable marker of vitamin D status and a key factor in bone health, immune function, and mood regulation. At 1,600 Kč total with phlebotomy, this panel provides a thorough hormonal, metabolic, and nutritional overview that most private GPs would charge two to three times more to order separately. It is particularly suited to women experiencing unexplained fatigue, hair loss, or recurrent infections who want to check both nutritional adequacy and organ function in a single visit.
IFCOR's Women's Extra Prevention panel builds on the 20-marker Basic panel by adding two biomarkers that address the most common nutritional deficiencies in women: ferritin and vitamin D. Ferritin is the body's primary iron storage protein — it begins to fall long before haemoglobin drops, meaning a woman can be iron-depleted and functionally impaired (fatigue, poor exercise tolerance, cognitive fog) while still showing a normal haemoglobin on a standard CBC. Including ferritin alongside the Basic panel's serum iron and CBC allows the full picture of iron status — intake, storage, and utilisation — to be assessed simultaneously, enabling clinicians or the patient's GP to distinguish true iron-deficiency anaemia from anaemia of chronic disease. Vitamin D (measured as 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the major circulating form) is deficient in a large proportion of Central Europeans due to limited sun exposure from October through April. Deficiency is associated with reduced bone mineral density, increased risk of stress fractures, impaired immune response (including susceptibility to respiratory infections), worsened mood and depression scores, and poorer cardiovascular outcomes. The Extra panel therefore provides a nutritional safety net on top of the organ-function and cardiovascular markers already included in the Basic. The full biomarker list: CBC with differential, Na/K/Cl electrolytes, fasting glucose, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, ALT, AST, GGT, ALP, bilirubin, urea, creatinine, CRP, uric acid, iron, ferritin, 25-OH vitamin D, TSH, and urinalysis with sediment. The collection protocol is identical to the Basic panel: fasting blood draw plus morning urine sample, with results via secure email the next business day. No GP referral is required.
