A titanium dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth, providing a fixed foundation for a crown without grinding the neighbouring teeth. At FROE implants are placed by a dedicated implantology and surgery specialist using established systems from Straumann, Camlog and Nobel Biocare, with treatment planned on a 3D CBCT scan. With an on-site ceramic laboratory, the final crown is made and matched in-house, and the clinic places on the order of a thousand implants a year.
About this treatment
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone to take the role of a natural tooth root. Over the weeks that follow, the bone integrates with the implant surface, creating a stable anchor onto which a crown, bridge or denture can later be fixed. Because the implant stands on its own, the healthy teeth on either side of the gap are left untouched, which is the main advantage over a conventional bridge.
At FROE the process begins with an implantology consultation and a three-dimensional CBCT scan, which the specialist uses to assess bone volume and plan the exact position before surgery. Placement of a single implant is usually carried out under local anaesthetic, often assisted by the clinic's computer-controlled Wand system for comfortable injections.
