A composite filling repairs a tooth affected by decay, wear or a small fracture using a tooth-coloured resin that bonds to the tooth and is hardened with a curing light. At Exacto Clinic high-aesthetic composite is shaped and polished to blend with the natural tooth, restoring both function and appearance. New patients are seen first for a general or comprehensive consultation, where the dentist assesses which conservative or restorative treatment is appropriate.
About this treatment
A composite (white) filling restores a tooth that has been damaged by decay, wear, erosion or a minor fracture. After any decay is removed, the cavity is built back up with a tooth-coloured resin that is bonded to the tooth and set hard with a curing light, then shaped and polished to match the natural contour and shade. The procedure is usually completed in a single visit under local anaesthetic if needed, and the tooth can generally be used normally soon afterwards.
