Cone-Beam CT Scan (CBCT)

Type

CT Scan

Duration

20 min

Cone-beam CT (CBCT) is a low-dose 3D dental X-ray that shows the teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures in detail, used at Exacto Clinic to plan implants, assess impacted teeth and diagnose complex endodontic cases. Scans can cover a few teeth, a single arch or both jaws, and a 2D digital panoramic image is also available. The 3D data underpins precise, guided treatment planning and is captured on-site for convenience.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam to build a three-dimensional image of the teeth, jawbones, nerves and sinuses, typically at a lower radiation dose than a medical CT. The 3D view provides information that flat dental X-rays cannot — such as bone height and width, the exact position of an impacted tooth or nerve, and the anatomy of root canals — which makes it valuable for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Exacto Clinic captures CBCT on-site so that imaging and planning can happen together. The scan itself is quick and non-invasive: the patient stays still while the machine rotates around the head for a short time. The resulting data is used to plan dental implant placement with precision, to assess surgical cases such as impacted wisdom teeth or cysts, and to investigate difficult root-canal anatomy. The clinic offers fields of view scaled to the clinical need — a small volume covering up to three teeth, a single arch, or both arches — with pricing to match, alongside a conventional 2D digital panoramic X-ray for a broad overview. Because imaging is selected according to the clinical question, the dentist or surgeon advises which scan is appropriate as part of the diagnostic and planning process.
