A staged laser approach to improving the appearance of scars, matched to the scar's age and type. At Effect Clinic fresh scars are supported with the OPTANT soft laser to aid healing, older red or pigmented scars are treated with IPL, and raised hypertrophic or keloid scars are resurfaced with the fractional CO2 laser under local anaesthesia. About this treatment
Scars vary enormously — by age, colour, texture and how raised or depressed they are — so Effect Clinic uses different tools for different scars rather than a single technique. The right approach is chosen at consultation based on how the scar has matured.
For new scars, generally one to six weeks old, the clinic uses the OPTANT soft laser, which delivers gentle red and blue light to support the natural healing process, calm inflammation and encourage tidier collagen formation. These sessions are brief and painless and are run at roughly one to two times per week over a course of at least five sessions, working alongside the body's own healing rather than ablating tissue.
