Intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment on the CyDen i-Pulse constant-current platform, used to even skin tone, fade pigmentation, calm acne and stimulate collagen for a smoother, brighter complexion. At Effect Clinic the device is programmed to your skin phototype and the chosen target — rejuvenation, pigment or acne — so a single platform can address several concerns. Pigment spots typically darken then slough away within around ten days, while the acne mode runs as a course of four to six sessions.
IPL (intense pulsed light) differs from a laser in that it delivers a broad spectrum of light filtered to target specific chromophores in the skin — melanin in pigment spots, haemoglobin in fine vessels, and the deeper structures involved in collagen production. Effect Clinic uses the CyDen i-Pulse, a constant-current 'square-pulse' IPL system that delivers an even, controlled pulse for consistent results across rejuvenation, pigment and acne indications. At the start the practitioner consults with you and programmes the device to your skin phototype and the chosen goal. In rejuvenation mode the light gently heats the dermis to stimulate collagen, softening fine lines and improving overall skin tone and texture. In pigment mode it targets areas of hyperpigmentation such as sun spots and freckles, which typically darken immediately after treatment and then flake away over roughly ten days as the skin renews. In acne mode the light has an antibacterial action against the bacteria involved in breakouts and is delivered as a course of four to six sessions spaced every four to six weeks. The treatment is non-ablative, so the skin surface is not broken, and a session feels like brief flashes of warmth with a light snapping sensation. There is little to no downtime: mild redness or a warm flush is common and settles within hours to a day. To prepare, avoid tanning and sun exposure before treatment, as IPL is not suitable on recently tanned skin. After treatment, diligent sun protection with a high-SPF product is recommended to maintain results and protect treated pigment. IPL photo-rejuvenation suits adults wanting to improve uneven tone, sun damage, redness, enlarged pores or active acne without surgery or significant recovery. Suitability and any contraindications are reviewed at the consultation.
