Laser Acne and Nail Fungus Treatment (K-Laser)

Type

Acne Treatment

Duration

30 min

Medical laser treatment of active acne and onychomycosis (nail fungus) using the K-Laser Blue Derma diode laser at Derma-plus Tábor. For acne, the laser targets sebaceous glands and bacteria within the follicle, reducing inflammation and the bacterial load driving breakouts without antibiotics. For nail fungus, the laser penetrates the nail plate to heat and destroy fungal organisms within the nail bed — an effective drug-free alternative for patients who cannot take oral antifungals or prefer to avoid systemic medication. MUDr. Irena Hejcmanová assesses each patient's condition and determines the appropriate laser parameters.

Acne vulgaris is a multifactorial inflammatory condition involving hyperkeratinisation of hair follicles, excess sebum production, colonisation by Cutibacterium acnes (formerly Propionibacterium acnes) and an inflammatory immune response producing papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. First-line management typically involves topical and oral medications, but a significant proportion of patients either cannot tolerate antibiotics, relapse after courses, or seek alternatives that do not carry systemic risks such as gut microbiome disruption or antibiotic resistance. Laser treatment of acne targets two of the core pathogenic mechanisms. The K-Laser Blue Derma delivers energy that heats the sebaceous glands — reducing sebum output and creating a less hospitable environment for C. acnes — and directly destroys bacteria through photobiomodulation and thermal effects. The wavelength also coagulates the inflamed microvessels surrounding active lesions, reducing the erythema and swelling that drives post-inflammatory scarring. At Derma-plus, MUDr. Hejcmanová applies the laser in a series of sessions spaced two to four weeks apart, adapting parameters to the patient's skin type and acne severity. This approach is particularly useful for patients with inflammatory acne on the face, back or shoulders who want a non-antibiotic option with no systemic exposure. For small acne-derived skin lesions — including milia, comedone-associated skin surface irregularities and tiny cysts — the K-Laser provides precise ablative removal at 1,100 Kč for the first ten lesions (1 mm scale), with the subsequent batch of ten at 600 Kč. Onychomycosis — fungal infection of one or more nails — affects around 10% of the general population, causing nail thickening, discolouration, fragility and separation from the nail bed. The K-Laser Blue Derma penetrates through the nail plate to the subungual space where the fungal biofilm resides, delivering thermal energy that disrupts fungal cell membranes and reduces viable fungal load. Unlike oral antifungals (terbinafine, itraconazole), laser treatment has no hepatotoxicity risk, no drug interactions and does not require pre-treatment blood tests or monitoring. A typical course involves three to four sessions spaced four weeks apart, allowing the nail to grow out progressively as new, healthy nail tissue replaces the infected section from the proximal fold. Results are assessed over the following three to six months of nail regrowth.
