Removal of benign skin growths and warts using electrocoagulation, in which a fine high-frequency current heats and destroys the unwanted tissue while sealing the small vessels in its stalk for a bloodless result. It is used for skin tags in friction areas such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts and the groin, as well as viral warts, seborrhoeic (age) warts and minor vascular marks like spider veins and dilated capillaries. At Derma Blansko the lesion is first assessed by a dermatovenerologist, and local anaesthetic — numbing cream or an injection — is available as an add-on for comfort.
Electrocoagulation is a long-established dermatological technique for removing small, benign skin lesions that are not a health risk but are cosmetically or functionally bothersome. A high-frequency current delivered through a fine electrode (the clinic uses an SMT high-frequency device) heats the targeted tissue precisely, destroying it while simultaneously coagulating the tiny vessels that feed it, so the procedure is essentially bloodless and well-controlled. It is particularly suited to soft, stalked skin tags that form where skin rubs — the neck, armpits, under the breasts and the groin — as well as to common viral warts, seborrhoeic (age) warts and superficial vascular blemishes such as cherry angiomas, spider veins and dilated capillaries. The appointment begins with a dermatovenerologist examining the lesion, confirming it is benign and discussing the expected result and number of points to treat. Local anaesthetic is offered as an add-on — numbing cream or a small injection depending on the site and sensitivity — after which the growths are treated one by one. Treatment of several small lesions usually takes only a short session. Afterwards a small scab or crust forms over each treated spot and separates over the following days; the area should be kept clean and dry, sun-protected, and not picked at while it heals, and most people return to normal activities the same day. The price depends on the number and size of lesions, with a separate per-lesion rate for intradermal naevus removal; because removal of a true mole or any suspicious lesion needs prior assessment, the clinic evaluates each lesion before treating it and refers anything requiring histological examination.
