Chemical Peel — Glycolic & Fruit Acids

Type

Chemical Peels

Duration

30 min

A superficial chemical peel using glycolic acid — at a concentration chosen between 20% and 70% for the skin and goal — combined with fruit acids such as citric and mandelic acid. It exfoliates the surface to reduce sebum and shrink the look of pores, brighten tired skin, smooth fine lines and partially soften acne scars while improving hydration and elasticity. At Derma Blansko it is delivered as a series of peels, typically three sessions about three to five weeks apart, with the acid strength tailored by the dermatovenerologist.

This is a superficial chemical peel based on alpha-hydroxy acids. The primary active is glycolic acid, the smallest AHA molecule, which penetrates readily and loosens the bonds between surface skin cells so dull, dead cells shed and fresher skin is revealed; Derma Blansko selects a concentration between 20% and 70% according to your skin type and the result being targeted. It is combined with additional fruit acids — citric and mandelic acid — to broaden the exfoliating and brightening effect, with mandelic acid in particular being gentler and useful for more sensitive or blemish-prone skin. During a session the skin is cleansed and the acid blend is applied for a controlled time, usually producing a mild tingling or warmth, before being neutralised and followed by soothing and protective skincare. Peels of this depth involve little to no true downtime, though the skin may look slightly pink or feel tight briefly and some light flaking can follow over the next few days. The treatment targets acne and partial smoothing of acne scars, excess sebum and enlarged-looking pores, tired and dull skin, fine lines, and uneven tone and age spots, while also supporting hydration and elasticity. Because results are cumulative, it is recommended as a series — about three peels at three-to-five-week intervals — with the acid strength stepped up as tolerance allows. Daily sun protection is essential throughout the course since exfoliated skin is more sun-sensitive; the dermatovenerologist reviews suitability, and it is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding or on broken or actively inflamed skin.
