CT angiography of major vascular structures — aorta, pulmonary arteries, renal arteries, neck vessels, and lower-limb arteries. Contrast-enhanced study providing high-resolution 3D vascular maps without catheter access. Performed at Warsaw's first private hospital with on-site surgical backup.
CT angiography (CTA) at Centrum Medyczne Damiana uses rapid intravenous contrast bolus timing synchronised to the vascular target, producing arterial-phase images with submillimetre resolution across the vessel of interest. The technique is confirmed for the full spectrum of vascular indications on the hospital's CT page, including aortic aneurysm detection and surveillance, pulmonary artery imaging for suspected pulmonary embolism, renal artery stenosis assessment, carotid and vertebral artery disease, and lower-limb arterial runoff for peripheral arterial disease. CTA provides information equivalent to invasive digital subtraction angiography for most diagnostic purposes, without the arterial puncture, procedural risk, or recovery time of catheter-based studies. The examination requires only peripheral venous access. After contrast injection, the scan completes in seconds; total appointment time including preparation and cannulation is approximately 45 minutes. Three-dimensional volume-rendered reconstructions and maximum-intensity-projection (MIP) images are generated in addition to the standard axial dataset, giving referring physicians a geometrically accurate view of the vascular anatomy. Centrum Medyczne Damiana's site at ul. Wałbrzyska 46 is a full private hospital — the presence of on-site vascular surgery and general surgery capability means that a CTA identifying a significant aneurysm, high-grade stenosis, or acute vascular pathology can be followed immediately by surgical consultation and, if necessary, direct admission. This integrated pathway distinguishes the centre from standalone imaging facilities that must arrange external surgical referral after a finding. Patients should fast for four hours before the examination and bring a creatinine result from within the previous month. Renal function screening is required because the iodinated contrast agent used in CTA is renally excreted and may cause contrast-induced nephropathy in patients with impaired kidneys. Those with confirmed or suspected thyroid conditions should also mention this at booking. Standard anti-allergy premedication can be arranged for patients with a history of contrast reactions. For international patients, the IMC coordination service manages the full pathway in English — GP referral advice, CT booking, results management, and onward surgical or specialist consultation if required. Physician referral is required under Polish Atomic Law; any active practitioner may issue one.
