Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Type

Botox & Fillers

Duration

45 min

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the most widely used injectable volumising agents in aesthetic medicine — a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and retains moisture, HA gels are injected into the dermis to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and reshape facial contours. At AV Aesthetics, MUDr. Anežka Vochtová uses HA filler for lip augmentation and definition, correction of under-eye hollows, cheek volume enhancement, nose and jaw profile contouring, and overall lower face rejuvenation. Results are visible immediately after treatment and continue to develop as the hyaluronic acid integrates into the surrounding tissue, typically lasting 12 months or longer.

Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan — a long-chain sugar molecule — that is naturally present in the skin, joints, and connective tissue. Its key property is hygroscopy: it binds up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, making it a powerful hydrator and volumising agent. In injectable filler form, cross-linked HA gel provides structural lift and volume while also contributing to the skin's moisture reserve. At AV Aesthetics, HA fillers are used for a wide range of facial indications. Lip augmentation and definition is one of the most commonly requested: filler can add volume to thin lips, restore age-related volume loss, and sharpen the cupid's bow. Under-eye hollow correction (tear trough filling) addresses the shadowed, sunken appearance that develops as the mid-face loses volume with age. Cheek augmentation with HA restores lateral facial volume and a subtle lift. Nose profile work — bridge straightening, tip refinement — is a non-surgical alternative to rhinoplasty. Jaw and chin contouring can define the jawline and improve profile. Lower face tightening addresses jowling and marionette lines. Emla topical anaesthetic is applied as standard before injection. MUDr. Vochtová uses Emla as part of her standard HA filler protocol across all zones. The filler is introduced via fine needle to the agreed location, and the result is visible immediately. HA is metabolised gradually by the body's hyaluronidase enzymes over approximately 12 months, though denser formulations used for structural augmentation may last longer. If the patient is unsatisfied or wants to change the result, an enzyme (hyaluronidase) can dissolve the filler. Preparation: avoid blood-thinning medications on the day. No active skin condition at the injection site for at least one week before treatment. Post-treatment: for 24 hours avoid alcohol, intense physical activity, saunas, direct sun, heat, and extreme cold. Contraindications: acute or chronic skin disease at the site, history of anaphylaxis or severe allergic reactions, autoimmune disorders, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
