Removable Dentures

Type

Crowns & Bridges

Duration

1 hour

Removable dentures replace several or all missing teeth with a custom-made plate that can be taken out for cleaning. At AS-Dent Studio there is a choice of a standard acrylic denture, a flexible metal-free Acron denture and a skeletal denture with a slim cast-metal framework for added strength and retention. Dentures restore chewing, speech and the appearance of a complete smile, and existing dentures can also be repaired.

Removable dentures are custom-made prosthetic plates that replace missing teeth and can be taken out for cleaning. They restore the ability to chew and speak, support the lips and cheeks, and fill the gaps left by lost teeth, and remain a practical and economical option for replacing several teeth or a full arch. At AS-Dent Studio there are three main types to suit different needs. A traditional acrylic denture has the replacement teeth set in a gum-coloured acrylic base and is a straightforward, cost-effective solution. An Acron denture uses a flexible, metal-free material that is light, comfortable and avoids visible metal clasps, which many patients prefer aesthetically. A skeletal denture is built around a slim, precisely cast metal framework that makes the plate stronger, thinner and better retained, distributing biting forces well when some natural teeth remain. Making a denture involves a series of impressions and fittings to achieve a comfortable, stable result, and the dentist adjusts it so it sits securely and the bite is even. New dentures take a little time to get used to, and the clinic provides guidance on wearing, cleaning and caring for them, as well as repairs and relines for existing dentures when they crack or no longer fit well. For patients who later want a more fixed solution, dentures can in some cases be combined with implants for extra stability, which the dentist can discuss at consultation.
