A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth, providing a stable foundation for a crown. It is a long-term way to restore a single gap or several missing teeth.

A dental implant replaces the root of a lost tooth with a biocompatible titanium fixture that integrates with the jawbone over the following months. Once stable, it supports a crown, bridge or denture, restoring the ability to bite and speak comfortably and helping to preserve the surrounding bone that tends to shrink after tooth loss. At AS-Dent Studio treatment begins with a cone-beam CT scan to assess bone volume and plan the precise position of each implant, performed by a dental surgeon experienced in implantology and oral surgery. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic; where a tooth is being removed, an immediate implant can sometimes be positioned in the same appointment, reducing the number of surgical visits. When the bone is thin or has receded, the clinic offers vertical and horizontal augmentation and, for upper back teeth, an open sinus floor elevation to create enough support. A healing screw or temporary component may be fitted while the implant integrates, after which a separate restorative stage adds the final crown. Mild swelling and tenderness for a few days afterwards are normal and managed with simple measures. Implants are well suited to adults in good general and oral health with one or more missing teeth; gum health, bone quality, smoking and certain medical conditions affect planning, and the surgeon reviews suitability and any contraindications using the CT assessment before treatment.
