Regular hygiene helps keep gums healthy and supports the longevity of fillings, crowns and implants.
About this treatment
Professional dental hygiene is the foundation of healthy teeth and gums. Over time, plaque hardens into tartar that cannot be removed by brushing and harbours bacteria, leading to gum inflammation, bad breath and, if left, gum disease and bone loss. A hygiene appointment removes these deposits and helps prevent decay and periodontal problems.
At AS-Dent Studio the hygiene package combines scaling to remove tartar from above and around the gum line, polishing to lift surface staining and smooth the teeth, and fluoridation to strengthen the enamel and reduce sensitivity. For patients with gum disease, the clinic provides deeper periodontal care, including closed curettage of a quarter of the mouth with locally applied medication to clean the root surfaces beneath the gum and help the tissues…
