A full ceramic crown is a tooth-coloured cap that covers and protects a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth while restoring its shape, strength and appearance. At AS-Dent Studio crowns are made from all-ceramic materials for a natural look without a metal core, and a temporary crown protects the tooth while the final restoration is made. Crowns are a durable way to save a tooth that is too compromised for a simple filling.
About this treatment
A dental crown is a custom-made restoration that fits over the whole visible part of a tooth, used when decay, a large old filling, a crack or root canal treatment has left too little healthy tooth for a filling to be reliable. By encasing the tooth, the crown protects it from further damage and restores normal shape, biting strength and appearance.
At AS-Dent Studio the tooth is first prepared and shaped, then digitally scanned or impressed so a full ceramic crown can be made to fit precisely and match the colour of the surrounding teeth. All-ceramic materials are used for a natural, translucent appearance without the grey line that can show with metal-based crowns, which is particularly valuable for front teeth. A temporary composite crown protects and seals the prepared tooth between appointments.…
