Redermalization — Xela Rederm (Swiss)

Type

Mesotherapy

Duration

45 min

Xela Rederm is a Swiss-developed injectable skin booster combining hyaluronic acid with amber acid (sodium succinate) — a Krebs cycle metabolite that stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin independent of any external laser or RF energy. The injected formula simultaneously provides deep hydration (from the HA component) and active cellular regeneration (from the succinate component), producing visibly smoother, firmer and more radiant skin within three days. Artmedica Clinic Prague was the first clinic in the Czech Republic to offer Xela Rederm, positioning it as an early adopter of this Swiss aesthetic innovation.

Redermalization is a term coined by Hyalual — the Swiss pharmaceutical company behind the Xela Rederm product line — to describe the process of restoring the full dermal matrix rather than simply adding temporary hydration. Standard HA skin boosters hydrate effectively but do not inherently stimulate new structural protein synthesis. Xela Rederm's distinguishing component is sodium succinate, the salt of succinic acid (amber acid), which is an endogenous intermediate in the Krebs cycle — the central cellular energy-producing pathway in mitochondria. When sodium succinate is delivered into the dermis at therapeutic concentrations, it acts as a mitochondrial activator and antioxidant in the local fibroblast population: it increases ATP production, reduces oxidative stress, and upregulates the fibroblasts' own synthesis of collagen, elastin and native hyaluronic acid. This means the product doesn't just physically fill the space — it biologically reactivates the skin's own regenerative capacity in the injected zone. The hyaluronic acid component provides the structural hydration matrix within which the sodium succinate acts: as HA attracts and binds water molecules, the dermal environment becomes better hydrated and the tissue swells slightly, further stretching fibroblasts and mechanically stimulating collagen synthesis through integrin pathways. The combination creates a synergistic effect that neither component achieves as effectively in isolation. Xela Rederm is available in multiple concentrations at Artmedica Clinic — from 1.1% HA/succinate formulations suitable for sensitive areas (eyelids, perioral) to 2.2% and Super Booster variants for deeper dermal regeneration in the cheeks, neck and décolletage. The choice of formulation is made by the physician based on skin condition, area and desired intensity. Sessions involve intradermal injection across the treatment zone; topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand. Minor redness and occasional small wheals at injection points resolve within hours to one to two days. The first visible effect — improved smoothness and luminosity — appears within three days. Full biostimulatory effect develops over two to three weeks. For fine wrinkles one session per year may suffice; deeper wrinkles and significant laxity benefit from two to three sessions spaced four weeks apart.
