Targeted IPL-based treatment for pigmentation spots, dilated capillaries, rosacea, couperose and spider veins using the Alma Harmony platform's Dye-VL module. The Dye-VL delivers intense pulsed light at wavelengths precisely selected to target haemoglobin in dilated blood vessels and melanin in pigmentation spots, reducing redness, visible capillaries and brown spots without ablating the skin surface. At Artmedica Clinic Prague the treatment is performed by a physician and results are visible after the first session for most vascular and pigmentation concerns.
The Alma Harmony Dye-VL module delivers intense pulsed light in wavelength bands optimised for two distinct chromophores: haemoglobin in the oxygenated blood of dilated superficial vessels, and melanin in epidermal pigment deposits such as solar lentigines and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. By filtering the broadband light output to these specific spectral windows, the Dye-VL achieves selective photothermolysis of vascular and pigmented targets while sparing the surrounding skin. For vascular lesions — rosacea-related diffuse redness, spider veins (telangiectasias), couperose and facial flushing — the absorbed light energy heats the blood within the vessel, causing coagulation of the endothelium and subsequent vessel collapse. The coagulated vessel is cleared by the body's macrophage system over two to four weeks, after which the previously visible redness or thread-like capillary disappears. For rosacea patients the reduction in background redness and reactive flushing accumulates over a course of three to four sessions. For pigmentation — sun spots, age spots, mild melasma and uneven skin tone — the absorbed energy fragmentises melanin granules, which are then cleared through the stratum corneum (they briefly appear darker before lifting off as very fine flaking) and via macrophage clearance in the dermis. The photothermal effect also provides mild collagen stimulation, contributing to overall skin tone improvement. The Dye-VL procedure is well tolerated without anaesthetic for most patients; the sensation is a brief warm snap with each pulse. Immediately after treatment vascular targets may appear slightly more red or purpuric before clearing; pigment spots characteristically darken before shedding. Both responses are expected and signal effective treatment. Redness resolves within hours to a day; pigment darkening and shedding completes within seven to fourteen days. SPF 50+ is essential during the treatment course to prevent new UV-driven pigment formation.
