CT Scan

Non-contrast CT of the brain, skull base, and posterior fossa at €85. Performed on a Siemens Somatom Perspective 128-slice scanner. Results typically within 7 working days; CD images available. Referral required for insurer-covered cases; self-pay available.
AGEL Rádiológia's CT head examination uses a Siemens Healthineers Somatom Perspective 128-slice CT scanner to produce high-resolution axial and reconstructed images of the brain, skull, skull base, and adjacent soft-tissue structures. At €85, the study covers the supratentorial compartment — cerebral cortex, white matter, basal ganglia, thalami, and ventricles — as well as the posterior fossa including the cerebellum and brainstem. The 128-slice acquisition generates thin consecutive sections (typically 0.6–1.0 mm) that can be reconstructed in any plane, enabling evaluation of parenchymal density changes, sulcal effacement, midline shift, and bony detail of the calvarium and skull base simultaneously. The facility routinely performs cranial CT for head trauma assessment, acute neurological symptoms, pre-surgical planning, follow-up after neurosurgical intervention, and detection of intracranial space-occupying lesions. For vascular pathology — suspected intracranial aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, or ischaemic stroke requiring vessel imaging — contrast-enhanced CT angiography of the cerebral vessels can be requested as a separate or combined study. The contrast agent is billed separately at €24.50 base charge plus a volume-dependent supplement; the radiologist or referring physician determines whether contrast is clinically appropriate. AGEL Rádiológia has operated in Bratislava since 2004 and holds quality management system certification. The department is staffed by a head physician, a guarantor physician, and a team of eight additional radiologists alongside qualified radiographers. Written reports are prepared by board-certified radiologists and delivered within approximately seven working days; urgent results can be discussed by telephone with the referring physician. Digital images are recorded on CD for the patient. The facility is located inside Nemocnica sv. Cyrila a Metoda, accessible by public transport in Bratislava's Petržalka district. Appointments are booked by phone (+421 911 490 100) or email ([email protected]). CT is available Monday–Friday 07:00–14:30 with on-call cover thereafter and 24/7 emergency cover on weekends.
